Yellowstone and Bear World Trip
5/16-5/19/09
We went with Mom (Rene) and Paul, also for 2 days Uncle Rod and cusion Justin joined us! I have never been to Yellowstone before and I had such a great time, I miss it already. On our way we stoped at Bear World which is near Rexburg, ID. It started as a refuge for Bears, now you can see the bears in their environment by driving through it! They romed around as you drive It was really neat, the best part was seeing the babies!
Although they were fenced offthey were soooooo cute and the best part, if only they stayed that small, right.
Yellowstone
Near the west entrance, this was our first encounter of Bison and baby bison! (sertinaly not our only encounter)
There's a blue bird on my shoulder........
Brandon and I at Gibbon Falls on day 2
This is Norris Geyser Basin, it stinks!!!
Upper Yellowstone Waterfall
The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
Roaring Spring: the water is not what makes this bubbles it is acutally just gas bubbles, the water is only about 180 degrees vs up to 2,000
West Thumb Geyer Basin
(next 4 pictures)
This was really neat because it was situated right on the lake
Fishing hole geyser. There is a myth that you can catch a fish and put it in the hole and it will cook it while its still on the hook.
The Abyss
Black Geyer Pool
Old Faithful
We got to see it get to 70 ft.
While taking pictures of Old Faithful, I quickly ran a little bit to get a good picture. I felt something hit my foot, I felt possibly I got a sliver from the boardwalk. I looked down and this is what i saw. I ended up having to cut it out thankfuly mom (Rene) had a pocket knife. Like my mom (Gayle) says, "There is never a dull moment with Noel around"
I was wondering why all the trees had bare spots on them, it was neat to see a Bison demonstrate why. They like to rub against them.
Near the waterfall heading towards Mammoth
Hey look at that rack! We saw only 2 elk with antlers, out of a couple hundred total
This was our 2nd bear encounter, this was about 20 miles before Lamar Valley
Antelope in Lamar Valley, he's a cute one! :)
This was our 4th bear encounter, our 2nd Grizzley. He was about 150 feet away, it was really neat. This was probally my favorite thing about the trip.
More bison near the west entrance
Bison and their brand new babies, they're so cute!
Where's mountian goat?
Good bye Yellowstone :( see you again soon, I hope. Seeing the Geysers and such was really neat, unlike anything else. But our favorite part was seeing all of the wildlife,
it was really neat to experience.
This is Mesa Falls
It was really beautiful, like an oasis
My Favorite Trees, aspens
We would like to thank you mom for this experience, it was a memory of a lifetime! I took my Rebel camera also and will be developing that soon, so hopefully I'll have some good pics from that camera to post!
